Key Scripture:

Acts 2:38“Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Introduction:

Baptism is an important step of obedience for every new believer. It publicly shows that you belong to Jesus and marks your new life in Him.

What Baptism Symbolizes:

1. Cleansing from Sin

  • Going under the water represents your sins being washed away.

  • You are made clean and forgiven through Jesus.

2. New Life in Christ

  • Coming up out of the water shows you rising to a new life with Jesus.

  • It symbolizes your resurrection with Him.

“We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that… we too may live a new life.” (Romans 6:4)

3. Public Declaration of Faith

  • Baptism tells others you have chosen to follow Jesus.

  • It is a way to witness your faith openly.

4. Identification with Jesus’ Death and Resurrection

  • Baptism connects you to the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.

  • It means you trust in His victory over sin and death.

Why You Should Get Baptized:

  • It follows Jesus’ command (Matthew 28:19).

  • It shows your commitment to Him.

  • It strengthens your faith and gives joy.

  • It joins you with the community of believers.

How to Prepare for Baptism:

  • Understand what it means and be ready to follow Jesus wholeheartedly.

  • Talk to a pastor or church leader for guidance.

  • Invite family and friends to celebrate with you.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What does baptism mean to you personally?

  2. Are you ready to take this step of obedience? Why or why not?

  3. Who can you talk to at your church or online ministry about getting baptized?

  4. How will you share your baptism story with others?

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for saving me and giving me new life. Help me to be ready to follow You in baptism and to live faithfully every day. Use my baptism to glorify You and encourage others. In Your Name, Amen.
