THE GREAT COMMISSION
Matthew 28:16-20
16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. 17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Jesus's final words, also known as The Great Commission, are full of action: go, make disciples, baptize, and teach.
Jesus's Great Commission will be fulfilled when the Gospel is available to every person on earth. Jesus's Great Commission is not only to preach the Gospel but to proclaim it to the whole world - every nation, tribe, people, and language! Therefore, evangelizing the unreached and unevangelized world should be the Church's and every Christian's highest priority.
The Great Commission will be completed with the return of Jesus Christ - and when the return will occur depends on the completion of Jesus's Great Commission. The return of Jesus Christ is not dependent on when the biblical prophecies of his return are finally fulfilled -- the final fulfillment of biblical prophecies of his return depends on when the Great Commission is completed!
