The Paradox of Enlightenment How Human Wisdom Strays from God and Becomes Its Own Enemy

In our modern age, where knowledge and technological advancements have reached unprecedented heights, humanity often prides itself on being more "enlightened" than ever before. This so-called enlightenment, however, has led many to stray further from God. As people become increasingly self-reliant and confident in their own wisdom, they begin to see less need for divine guidance, choosing instead to place their trust in human intellect and achievement.

This departure from God is not without consequence. As humanity drifts away from the Creator, seeking to redefine morality and truth according to its own desires, it unwittingly becomes its own worst enemy. History shows that when societies abandon God’s principles, they descend into confusion, moral decay, and ultimately, self-destruction. The more we attempt to assert our independence from God, the more we sow seeds of discord, leading to broken relationships, societal unrest, and a profound sense of emptiness that no amount of human knowledge or progress can fill.

In our pursuit of enlightenment, we have lost sight of the true Light—the wisdom and truth found in God alone. Proverbs 14:12 warns, "There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end, it leads to death." This verse encapsulates the tragic irony of our times: in striving to be our own gods, we are leading ourselves down a path of destruction. True enlightenment does not come from rejecting God, but from seeking Him, for He is the source of all wisdom and life. Only by returning to Him can we find the peace, purpose, and salvation that our souls desperately need.
